In School Delivery (Volunteer) 

Hockey Manawatu are looking for people to help deliver our in school delivery programmes. 

we have a total of 13 schools who we deliver the NZ Small Sticks Programme too through a 4 week programme. If you are passionate about sport and love workingwith and coaching young players then get in touch with us. 


About the role: 

Reporting to the Regional Development Officer, you will be responsible for running the in school sessions from a previously designed plan and encouraging younger players to join hockey. 


Your Key responsibilities include 

  • Sorting gear for each session (this will be provided to you)
  • Delivering a programme developed from the Hockey NZ Small Sticks programme outline.

You're organised and able to interact and communicate with anyone who you may meet. 

You will be the face of our in school delivery and are good with kids. 


What we offer:

This is a job that is somewhat flexible, schools set their days and times, though we can work with you and your schedual as we do have staff who can step in to deliver the programme when needed. 

This role may suit someone wanting to get some volunteer hours and get some experience under their belt, or even for a university student needing to do practicum hours.

Turf Controller - Competition days (volunteer)

Hockey Manawatu are looking for a group of keen individuals who would love to help out with the operational runnings on competition days. If you are passionate about the sport and want to give back to the community, and can spare a few hours every so often then get in touch with us. 


About the role:

Reporting to the Competitions Manager, you will be responsible for the smooth running of competition days here at the Twin Turfs. 


​​​​​​​Your Key responsibilities include (depending on hours of shift) 

  • Unlocking the facility (1-hr pre game). 
  • Checking the facility is ready for a day of sport and supporters (i.e. facilities tidy) 
  • Ensuring turfs are ready to be played on included watered and score board set and lights are on (if needed).
  • Responding to any unforseen situations that occure during your shift (HMI staff will be primary responders, turf controller to assist in any extra precautions). 
  • Collecting lost property and reseting facility for the next day 
  • Switching off score boards and lights 
  • Checking all inside facilities are tidy.
  • Closing and locking up the facility (once everyone has left) 

Jobs which need to be done will depend on which shift you are rostered on and which bar, cafe and HMI staff are present

This is a job that suits you and your schedual, with flexible days and time. This role may suit someone wanting to get some volunteer hours and get some experience under their belt. Due to the nature of the sport, hours are flexible through the week though will be predeminantly focused towards weekend days during our PITA PIT Primary School Competition, intermediate competition and senior club competitions.
